Why journalism?
I knew I wanted to pursue journalism in college when researching current events for high school assignments became my favorite topic to investigate and dive deeper on. When I attended elementary school and was as young as eight years old, a few older students were the face of "STAL Channel 5," a broadcast channel that would give the morning news to the whole school each day of the week. For being as young as I was, I knew I wanted to be on the classroom TV screen when I was older, and as the channel fizzled out as those students left, the channel was no longer. When I reached the eighth grade, I worked alongside other students to get STAL Channel 5 up and running again, as the morning news channel. Journalism and storytelling have always been a large interest of mine, even before I knew what journalism really was.I knew I wanted to pursue journalism in college when researching current events for high school assignments became my favorite topic to investigate and dive deeper on. Region 4 'Mark of Excellence Award' General Column Writing
In April of 2025, I was recognized by the Society of Professional Journalists in Region 4 for First Place in General Column Writing.
Region 4 recognizes student journalists in Michigan, Ohio, Western Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
To receive this high recognition for my column writing is beyond exciting. I am very thankful for my colleagues at The Post who continue to support me!

Ohio University Ohio University Chapter of Society of Professional Journalists
While balancing both coursework and extracurriculars at OU, I have benefited the most from involving myself in student organizations that care for the student ad well as student journalists.
Here, I received a scholarship from the Central Ohio Society of Professional Journalists in April of 2024.

Pro Con 2025 New York City, New York
In February 2025, I was selected, alongside other student journalists from both The Post and The New Political, to attend Pro Con 2025, a conference for college students studying media and journalism.
This conference allowed me to network and speak to industry professionals. I learned lots of skills that I brought back to The Post.
